Dermaplaning

Post-CARE Instructions

1. Avoid Direct Sun Exposure:

  • Use Sunscreen Daily: Always apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen to protect your skin from UV damage. Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun post-treatment, making it prone to pigmentation and sunburn.

  • Stay Out of the Sun for 24–48 Hours: Avoid direct sun exposure for at least one to two days after the treatment. If you need to be outdoors, wear a wide-brimmed hat or seek shade.

2. Avoid Heat and Strenuous Activities:

  • Refrain from Hot Showers and Heat: Avoid hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms for at least 24 hours, as heat can irritate your freshly exfoliated skin.

  • Limit Exercise for 24–48 Hours: Avoid vigorous exercise that may cause excessive sweating or irritation to the treated skin.

3. Hydrate and Moisturize:

  • Apply a Hydrating Moisturizer: Use a gentle, hydrating moisturizer regularly to maintain skin moisture levels and prevent any dryness or tightness. Look for products containing hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or ceramides.

  • Drink Plenty of Water: Hydrate from the inside out by drinking plenty of water to keep your skin nourished and plump.

4. Avoid Exfoliating and Active Ingredients:

  • Skip Strong Skincare Products for 48 Hours: Avoid products with retinoids, Vitamin C, AHAs, BHAs, or other exfoliating acids for at least 48 hours, as your skin may be more sensitive after dermaplaning.

  • Avoid Scrubs: Do not use physical exfoliants or abrasive scrubs for at least a week to prevent irritation and over-exfoliation.

5. Be Gentle with Your Skin:

  • Avoid Touching or Scratching: Refrain from touching or picking at your skin to prevent introducing bacteria or causing irritation.

  • No Facial Treatments for 1 Week: Avoid additional facials or treatments, like chemical peels or microdermabrasion, for at least 7 days after dermaplaning to avoid overstimulating the skin.

6. Avoid Makeup (if possible):

  • Let Your Skin Breathe: For at least 24 hours, avoid wearing makeup, especially heavy or pore-clogging products. If makeup is necessary, opt for lightweight, non-comedogenic options to allow your skin to heal and breathe.

7. Monitor for Side Effects:

  • Mild Redness or Sensitivity (Normal): It's normal to experience some mild redness or sensitivity for a few hours after treatment. Your skin may feel smoother but also slightly tender.

  • Alert for Unusual Symptoms: If you experience persistent redness, irritation, peeling, or swelling, contact your provider for guidance.

8. Enjoy the Results:

  • Smooth, Radiant Skin: After dermaplaning, you may notice a visible improvement in the texture and radiance of your skin, and makeup may go on more smoothly. These effects often last for about 3–4 weeks, depending on your skin’s natural cell turnover rate.

9. Schedule Follow-Up Sessions:

Maintain Results with Regular Treatments: Dermaplaning can be done every 3–4 weeks to maintain smoothness and radiance. Follow the treatment schedule your provider recommends for continued benefits.
