Immediate Aftercare
Mild Swelling or Bruising: Some swelling, tenderness, or minor bruising at the injection site is normal and should resolve within a few days.
Avoid Touching or Scratching: Refrain from touching or scratching the area to prevent irritation or infection.
Activity Restrictions
Avoid Sexual Activity for 48 Hours: Allow time for healing by avoiding sexual activity, including intercourse, for at least 48 hours after the procedure.
No Heavy Exercise: Avoid strenuous exercise, especially activities involving the pelvic region, for 24–48 hours to minimize discomfort and support healing.
Hygiene and Care
Keep the Area Clean: Use gentle, unscented cleansers, and avoid any harsh soaps or chemical products around the injection site.
Avoid Tampons for 24 Hours: If needed, use sanitary pads instead of tampons to reduce the risk of irritation or infection.
Managing Discomfort
Over-the-Counter Pain Relief: If you experience mild soreness, you may use acetaminophen if approved by your provider. Avoid NSAIDs (like ibuprofen) in the first 48 hours, as they may interfere with PRP’s effectiveness.
Cool Compress (if needed): A cool compress can help reduce swelling or discomfort, but avoid placing ice directly on the skin.
Monitor for Potential Side Effects
Mild Side Effects (Normal): Mild swelling, bruising, and sensitivity in the area are common and typically subside within a few days.
Alert for Unusual Symptoms: If you experience severe pain, redness, fever, discharge, or spreading swelling, contact your provider, as these could indicate infection or an adverse reaction.
Expect Gradual Improvement
Be Patient with Results: The full effects of the O-Shot may take several weeks to develop, as collagen regeneration and sensitivity improvements occur gradually.
Follow-Up Care and Maintenance
Adhere to Follow-Up Schedule: Depending on your treatment plan, your provider may suggest follow-up sessions. Attend these appointments to monitor progress and maximize results.
Communicate with Your Provider
Contact for Any Concerns: If you experience any unexpected symptoms or discomfort, reach out to your healthcare provider promptly.
