Post-CARE Instructions

 Managing Injection Site:

  • Observe the Site: Slight redness, swelling, or tenderness is normal. These symptoms should fade within a few hours.

  • Avoid Rubbing or Scratching: Do not rub the injection site, as this may cause irritation.

  • Keep the Area Clean and Dry: Avoid applying lotions, creams, or makeup to the area until redness or tenderness fades.

 Handling Side Effects:

  • Nausea and Upset Stomach: Nausea is a common side effect. To minimize it:

    • Eat smaller, more frequent meals.

    • Avoid high-fat, greasy, or spicy foods.

    • Drink water throughout the day to stay hydrated.

  • Dizziness or Lightheadedness: Stand up slowly when moving from lying or sitting to a standing position. Ensure you stay hydrated.

  • Possible Diarrhea or Constipation: Eat high-fiber foods, and drink plenty of fluids. Contact your provider if symptoms are severe or persistent.

 Staying Hydrated:

  • Drink Water Throughout the Day: Staying hydrated is important, especially if you experience any gastrointestinal side effects. Increase electrolytes. 

 Avoid Alcohol (if advised by provider):

  • Alcohol may increase the risk of hypoglycemia and can worsen nausea or upset stomach. Follow your healthcare provider’s guidance on alcohol consumption.

 Adhere to the Medication Schedule:

  • Take Semaglutide as Directed: Ensure you follow the recommended dose and frequency, as advised by your provider.

 Report Any Severe Side Effects:

  • Contact your healthcare provider if you experience any of the following:

    • Severe abdominal pain

    • Persistent vomiting or diarrhea

    • Vision changes

    • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as swelling, difficulty breathing, or rash

 Follow-up Appointments:

Attend Regular Check-ins: Your provider may want to monitor your progress and adjust the dose as needed.
