Post-CARE Instructions

Injection Site Care:

  • Observe for Mild Redness or Swelling: It’s normal to have minor redness, tenderness, or swelling at the injection site. This usually resolves within a few hours.

  • Avoid Rubbing or Scratching: Refrain from touching, rubbing, or scratching the injection site to prevent irritation.

  • Keep the Area Clean and Dry: Do not apply lotions or creams to the site until any redness or tenderness has subsided.

Managing Common Side Effects:

  • Nausea or Stomach Upset: Nausea is a frequent side effect that typically lessens with time.

    • Eat smaller, more frequent meals.

    • Avoid greasy, spicy, or fried foods.

    • Drink water throughout the day to stay hydrated.

  • Diarrhea or Constipation: Eat fiber-rich foods and maintain hydration. Contact your healthcare provider if symptoms are severe or persistent.

  • Possible Dizziness: Rise slowly from sitting or lying positions, especially if you feel lightheaded.

Staying Hydrated:

  • Drink Water Throughout the Day: Staying hydrated is crucial, especially if you experience nausea, vomiting, or gastrointestinal side effects.

Dietary Considerations:

  • Limit Alcohol (if advised): Alcohol may increase the risk of hypoglycemia and worsen nausea or upset stomach, so follow your provider’s guidance regarding alcohol consumption.

  • Eat Balanced Meals: Healthy, balanced meals can help stabilize blood sugar and minimize side effects.

Stick to Your Dosing Schedule:

  • Take Tirzepatide as Directed: Follow the prescribed dose and frequency. Skipping doses or taking extra can disrupt effectiveness and increase side effects.

 Monitor for Severe Side Effects:

  • Contact Your Provider if You Notice Any of the Following:

    • Severe abdominal pain, which could indicate pancreatitis

    • Persistent vomiting or severe diarrhea

    • Vision changes

    • Signs of an allergic reaction, like swelling, difficulty breathing, or rash

Schedule Follow-Up Appointments:

Attend Routine Check-ups: Regular appointments allow your healthcare provider to monitor your progress and adjust dosing if needed.
